The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are proud to be collaborating for another year on The Coffee House series featuring Coffee Houses, Mocha Houses and Cocoa Houses. The Coffee House Series invites the community to gather for a relaxed and inspiring evening celebrating creativity in all its forms. This free event showcases a wide range of local talent, featuring live music, theater, dance and more, all in a welcoming, coffee-house style atmosphere.
Designed to bring artists and audiences together, the Coffee House Series offers a platform for performers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to share their work in an intimate and supportive setting.
The Coffee Houses are designed for high school and college aged performers. Cocoa Houses are designed for middle and elementary school performers and Mocha Houses are designed for performers of all ages. Performers must submit an “audition” video — for information on submitting an act, visit theartsbarn.net.
Admission is free and open to the public, making the Coffee House Series accessible to everyone. The first Coffee House of the series is February 27 at The Plaza Arts Center.

Putnam Reads invites families to lace up their sneakers for the Seuss on the Loose Fun Run & Festival on March 7 at Putnam County Primary School. This colorful, Seuss-inspired community event combines an energetic fun run with a lively family festival designed to celebrate reading, imagination, and healthy fun.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with the race kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Children and families are encouraged to come dressed in playful, Seuss-themed attire as they enjoy a morning filled with movement, laughter, and community spirit. Participants who preregister by February 20 will receive an event T-shirt.
Following the run, the festival continues from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., featuring kid-friendly activities and entertainment that bring favorite storybook themes to life. Pickleball to the Rescue
Pickleball to the Rescue is returning on Saturday, April 18 with a fun-filled community tournament and festival-style fundraiser benefiting the Lake Oconee Humane Society. Designed for players of all skill levels and families of all ages, this annual event brings the Lake Oconee community together for a day of friendly competition, entertainment, and meaningful impact.
More than just a pickleball tournament, Pickleball to the Rescue is growing into a lively family festival featuring kid-friendly activities, local sponsors, and interactive attractions that make it a celebration for everyone. Organizers are currently planning exciting additions — including hopes for a bounce house and other family entertainment — to create an unforgettable day of community connection.
All proceeds from raffles and fundraising efforts directly support the Lake Oconee Humane Society, helping provide food, medical care, and life-saving services for homeless, abandoned, and neglected pets. With the support of local businesses, players, and volunteers, this event helps give animals in need a second chance while bringing neighbors together for a shared cause.
Community members and sponsors are encouraged to get involved by contributing ideas, volunteering, or supporting festival activities. Pickleball to the Rescue promises a day of fun, generosity, and teamwork — all in support of helping animals find safe and loving homes.

The day consists of two main events: Workshops (advance registration required) and a Paint Out (advance registration recommended).
1. Workshops:
From 9:00 am – 12:00 pm we are pleased to offer two Plein Air Workshops ($50) taught by award-winning Plein Air painters and instructors: Allison Doke and Ginny Fergus. Each workshop only has room for 10 participants, so be sure to register early! The deadline to register for the workshop is April 10, 2026.
2. Paint Out Competition:
Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Registration for the Paint Out is $25. Please be sure to read the full rules and regulations. There are cash prizes (1st: $200; 2nd: $150; 3rd: $100 and up to three merit awards at $40 each). Judging will be done by the workshop instructors. The event will be held rain or shine, so come prepared.
We highly recommend you register in advance for the Paint Out so we can provide recommended locations to paint and suggestions for inclement weather locations as well. However, we do accept walk-ups on the day of the event.

Putnam Christian Outreach invites the community to take part in its 7th Annual Helping Hands and Caring Hearts Golf Tournament—an impactful day of golf that supports neighbors in need across the Lake Country area.
Proceeds from the tournament help provide vital resources such as food, clothing, and financial assistance to local individuals and families facing hardship. Contributions also play a crucial role in supporting the homeless and helping feed children on weekends when free school lunches are not available.

Supported by a dedicated community of local sponsors, student athletes will compete for the state title on the water. The highly anticipated 2026 GHSA State Finals for Bass Fishing, presented by Alfa Insurance, is set for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, GA. This major high school championship event culminates a season of qualifying tournaments. The thrilling weigh-in event is free and open to the public at the Little River Park Ramp (3069 N Columbia St).

Coffee House Series Brings Community Together for a Free Evening of Live Arts
The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are proud to be collaborating for another year on The Coffee House series featuring Coffee Houses, Mocha Houses and Cocoa Houses. The Coffee House Series invites the community to gather for a relaxed and inspiring evening celebrating creativity in all its forms. This free event showcases a wide range of local talent, featuring live music, theater, dance and more, all in a welcoming, coffee-house style atmosphere.
Designed to bring artists and audiences together, the Coffee House Series offers a platform for performers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to share their work in an intimate and supportive setting.
The Coffee Houses are designed for high school and college aged performers. Cocoa Houses are designed for middle and elementary school performers and Mocha Houses are designed for performers of all ages. Performers must submit an “audition” video — for information on submitting an act, visit theartsbarn.net.
Admission is free and open to the public, making the Coffee House Series accessible to everyone.
Attendees are encouraged to come early, grab a seat, and enjoy coffee or treats that will be for sale. All proceeds from the Coffee House series go toward the Broadway Intensive program this summer.

A Tribute Night to the Eagles is coming to the Plaza Arts Center on Saturday February 14th!

Valentine's Day Renezvous 2026
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with an evening of live music as Georgia College’s Max Noah Singers present Valentine’s Day Rendezvous at 7:30 pm in the Magnolia Ballroom at the Student Activity Center. This special concert features a mix of classic and contemporary love songs performed by the full ensemble, with selections ranging from Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes to Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance.
The program also includes solos, duets, a trio, and small ensembles showcasing pop music, musical theatre, and original works. A five dollar donation is encouraged, with proceeds supporting music scholarships and the Georgia College Department of Music through the GCSU Foundation.
The concert will be live streamed on the Georgia College Music Department Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.

Global Rhythm Classes
Explore how music is built from a rhythm-first perspective in this hands-on Global Rhythm class series led by percussionist Don Parker. Designed for 6th grade through adult learners, these sessions introduce the fundamentals of rhythm reading and drumming while drawing from a wide range of cultural and global music traditions.
Participants will learn basic rhythm notation, time signatures, and drumming techniques using hand drums and small percussion instruments. Through guided listening, demonstrations, and group activities, students will apply these skills to rhythms inspired by genres such as R&B, Hip-Hop, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and West African music. Each class concludes with a collaborative group session that brings together rhythm reading and performance techniques.
Whether you’re new to rhythm or looking to deepen your musical skills, this series offers an engaging and supportive way to learn.

Historic Trolley Tour
Hop aboard the town’s most iconic resident, “Milly the Trolley,” for a fully narrated tour of Milledgeville’s historic district!
Featuring grand architecture, beautiful squares, and historic neighborhoods, the sixty-minute tour provides an overview of Milledgeville’s history during its sixty-eight-year period as the capital city of Georgia. During the tour, guests will cruise the historic district via trolley and be escorted on a guided walk through the former statehouse square and St. Stephens Episcopal Church, consecrated in 1843.
Trolley tours are hosted on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m., departing from the Milledgeville Visitor Information Center, and are offered rain or shine.
Tickets are $15 per person. Pre-purchased tickets are encouraged and may be arranged in person or by calling 478-452-4687.
Please note, the trolley is ADA compliant but moderate mobility is recommended for those who wish to disembark at the statehouse square and St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
